Sharon Joan Zammit

Sharon Joan Zammit peacefully passed away on September 12th, 2024, at the age of 83. Sharon was born on July 24, 1941, to her parents Herman and Marie Liedel, in Monroe, Michigan. She was the oldest of four siblings: Suzanne, Ronald, Frank and Mary Catherine. Sharon’s deeply-rooted Catholic Faith and her passion for learning set the stage for her lifelong vocations as a loving mother of six children and as a primary education teacher in Detroit Public Schools for 30+ years. Sharon’s students loved her dearly and started each school day with a big hug from their motherly teacher. Sharon’s home was Grand Central for many Holiday celebrations and fond memories. Everyone was welcome: neighborhood kids, her children’s friends, and even the stray animals she would eventually adopt. There was never a dull moment growing up in the Zammit household. Sharon spent many joyful hours in her immaculately manicured garden, always with a jar of tea nearby. Sharon’s creativity blossomed outside the garden as well. Her artistic endeavors included classical music, making stained glass windows and Christmas decorations, playing the accordion and piano, reading and science, and sewing. Sharon’s artistic vision was sometimes “over the top”, but she went for it … Like the time she made her 6 children matching bathing suits from a psychedelic fabric of hot pink, neon orange and purple - all trimmed in 2-inch, canary yellow, terry-cloth piping. You can be assured no other kids were wearing swimsuits like her design (and for good reason). ;-) Sharon will be remembered for her unshakable trust in The Most Holy Trinity, her generous heart and the kindness she showed to everyone (especially those in need), and ALWAYS for her love and devotion to her family, friends, children and sixteen grandkids. Very proud grandma of Paul (Elyssa) Najor, Alicia Lee, Natalie Ring, Monica Ring, Jared (Bailey) Ring, Mark Ring, Sophia Ring, Julian Zammit, Pia Zammit, Luke Czach, Stephen Czach, Nathan Czach, Aaron Czach, Celina Czach, Benjamin Czach, and Jason Czach. Also very proud great Grandma of Koda Ring and Lincoln Ring and 1 great grandchild on the way. Visitation Friday 2-8 PM with a 7 PM Rosary at the Wasik Funeral Home, Inc. 49150 Schoenherr Rd. (n. of 22 Mile Rd.), Shelby Twp. Instate Saturday 9:30 am until 10:00 am Funeral Mass at St. Peter Catholic Church 95 Market Street (w. of Main), Mt. Clemens.
