John Peter Osterman

It is with profound grief and sorrow that we wish to inform you of the peaceful passing of John Peter Osterman on July 14, 2025, at the age of 83. John was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and his belief that people were the most valued asset of any organization. After leaving Mt. Clemens after high school and spending four years in the US Army, John returned to Mt. Clemens where he met and would later marry his wife, Sandra. John worked in the tool and die and equipment building industries when he founded his first company Tru Bend in 1974. John had the entrepreneurial vision to launch and develop multiple successful businesses over his entire life including the Skate Loft, JP’s Clubhouse, Surfside Stamping and Selective Industries, Inc. to name a few. John's legacy lives on through his wife of 61 years Sandra and his loving children: Tammy (Michael) Black, Sherri (Timothy) Teller, Michael (Laura) Osterman, and Dawn (Derek) Wagner. As a grandfather, he reveled in the laughter and joy of his grandchildren: Cory, April (Andru), Nicholas (Caitlin), Noah, Hope, Adam, Chloe, Aaron, and Lukas. He took immense pride in his great-grandchildren: Cheyenne, Cameron, Calus, Zariah, Cash, and Ella, each of whom brought him great happiness. He loved travelling with his wife and family. They enjoyed decades of travel and made friends all along the way. Their travel adventures would take them from Michigan to Florida, Rhode Island to Mississippi, and from Hawaii to the Caribbean. John and Sandy’s RV treks across the country were legendary with some tales having better endings than others. John was never scared to take on new opportunities. He thrived at taking on projects that others had passed on because they were too difficult or “couldn’t be done.” John did everything with honesty and integrity. He had very strong values and was well liked by everyone, mostly due to his positive energy. John had incredible patience, and always made time to help others. He was inviting and easy going and had a young-at-heart quality. John loved to golf with his friends and family and it was one of his favorite past times. Those who knew John will remember him for his infectious smile and his unwavering commitment to spreading love and kindness to everyone he encountered. He had a rare gift for making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed his path. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him. Although John’s physical presence may no longer grace our lives, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. May his memory be a blessing, and may we carry forth his legacy of love and compassion in all that we do. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions to charities close to John’s heart. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched throughout his memorable life.
