Joan Therese Lyczkowski

Joan Lyczkowski, of Warren, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at the age of 95. She was born May 13, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan to Andrew and Anne (nee Reske) Cichocki. On August 20, 1955 Joan married Chester Lyczkowski at St. Thomas Apostle Catholic Church in Detroit. To this union brought 5 children, 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, extended family and countless friends. In August 2015, Joan and Chet celebrated 60 years of marriage. Joan was a longtime member at St. Raymond - Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Detroit. She was involved with the Altar Society, Choir Auxiliary, Festival Committee as well as many other groups and organizations within the parish. She taught religious education at St. Raymond's, Our Lady of Good Counsel and St. Peter Catholic Church. Along with her husband, Chet, they were in charge of the Girl Scouts and Boys Scouts within the parish. Joan was involved with the Girls Scouts for over 50 years and was the CYO Director for Girl Scouts. Joan was a member of the America Polish Century Club Ladies Auxiliary and belonged to the original group of members of the Firesiders Camping Club. Joan was active and involved in various groups and organizations throughout her life. She enjoyed spending her time taking care of others. Her greatest joy was her family. Spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandsons brought her great happiness. Through all their adventures, the memories that were made will be remembered for years to come. Truly her "sass" and "take charge" demeanor will be greatly missed by all those that knew and loved her. Joan is the beloved wife of the late Chester. Dear mother of Michael (Diane), Thomas (Kimberly McWilliams), Kathy (John) Eubanks, Mari Jo (Paul) Vernarsky and Alan (Kelly). Loving grandma of Brian, Greg (Amellia), Jacky, Kylee, Alex, Claire, Kristyn, Harper and the late John Daniel. Precious great grandma of Connar and Andrew. She was predeceased by her sisters, Rosemary (Raymond) Jozwik and Yvonne (Edward) Swantek. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 15, 2025 from 2-8 p.m. with a Rosary 7 p.m. at the Wasik Funeral Home, Inc., 11470 Thirteen Mile Road (west of Hoover) Warren. Instate Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at 10 a.m. until time of her Funeral Mass 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church, 95 Market Street (between Main St. & south bound Gratiot) Mt. Clemens.
