Alice Marie Whittemore

We are sad to announce the passing of Alice Whittemore of Clay Township, Michigan. After a courageous battle with cancer, Alice died on Oct. 12, 2023, at age 65 surrounded by her loved ones. Alice was born on March 7, 1958 to Thaddeus (deceased) and Geraldine Lilly in Rochester, Michigan. She was a cherished daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend to many and leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a deep commitment to her family and church. Alice was a woman of many talents and her passion for helping others was evident throughout her life. She received her nursing degree from Madonna University in 1981 and spent over four decades as a dedicated cardiac operating room nurse, working tirelessly to provide care and comfort to those in need. Her gentle, compassionate nature and childlike joy was infectious and endeared her to patients and loved ones alike. In her free time, Alice enjoyed gardening and was a talented violinist and pianist. Family was the center of her world and she was a loving and devoted wife to her husband, John, for 41 years. Together they raised three daughters, Shannon (Bryan) Pollum, Christy (Travis) Evans, and Elizabeth (Erick) Fredendall. Alice’s grandchildren, Jayden Evrard, Reagan Pollum, and Bryce Evans, brought endless joy into her life. Alice was the oldest of 10 siblings and is survived by her brothers Chris Lilly, Paul Lilly, Philip Lilly, Alan Lilly, Kenneth Lilly, and Michael Lilly, and sisters Stephanie Brock, Cynthia Huber, and Kristina Reynolds. Alice's passing leaves a void in the lives of those who knew her, but her warm smile, generous heart, and selfless nature will forever be remembered. As we say our goodbyes, let us remember Alice as a loving soul, a beacon of kindness, and a shining example of a life well-lived. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. A visitation service to celebrate Alice's life will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 18, from 2-8 p.m. at Wasik Funeral Home, 35259 23 Mile Rd., New Baltimore, Michigan 48047. Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 19, at Immaculate Conception Church at 9764 Dixie Hwy., Ira Township, Michigan 48023.
