Charles Wilson Stout

Charles Wilson Stout, born in Wadsworth, Ohio on August 23, 1925, passed away January 22, 2008 in Warren, Michigan. Charles attended the Flint Public schools, where he graduated from Flint Central in 1943. He enlisted in the V-12 Naval Aviation program upon graduation. After his involvement in the Navy, he attended Alma College and Notre Dame University. He then transferred to Great Lakes Naval Station where he trained as a Quartermaster/Signalman. He was assigned to an LSM landing craft in the Philippines during World War II. He served 2 ½ years completing service in New Orleans followed by a discharge at Great Lakes Naval Station in Illinois. From 1946 to 1950, he attended the Music School at the University of Michigan where he received a Bachelors degree in Music. From 1950 to 1962, he taught Instrumental Music at various schools in the state of Michigan including the cities of Sheridan, Linden, Caro Dexter and Elsie. He married his wife, Beverly, on June 30, 1962 and returned to the University of Michigan to complete his Masters Degree in Music Education. He taught at Clare and in Hazel Park where he retired in 1980. Several secondary occupations involved Radio Shack, Laprima Music and Knights Inn. Chuck was also very active in the choir at his church, First United Methodist Church of Warren. He also played clarinet with the Warren Concert Band and the Mount Clemens Symphony Orchestra in addition to the University of Michigan Bands while attending school. He is survived by his wife of 45 years; Beverly, daughter; Susan (Timothy) Buechner, son; David Charles Stout, grandchildren; Jack, Carley and Riley, brother; Donald (Patricia) Stout and sister; Carolyn (Gerald) Rumbold. He was predeceased by his parents; Thelma (Swigart) and Claude Stout. Instate Friday 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. funeral service at First United Methodist Church 5005 Chicago Rd. (Warren) Visitation Thursday 2-9 p.m. at the Wasik Funeral Home 11470 Thirteen Mile Rd. (W. of Hoover rd.) Interment White Chapel Cemetery.
