William “Bill” Peter Waldorf Age 89 | Chesterfield Township Passed Away: April 10, 2025 William Peter Waldorf, affectionately known as “Bill,” passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at the age of 89. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Rose (née Cosamano), with whom he shared a lifetime of love, partnership, and devotion. A proud and dedicated father, he leaves behind his cherished children: James (Lorene), MaryAnn (Ricky Klein), Karen (Melvin Rettell), and William (Kristie). Born to the late Peter and Julia (née Harhigh) Waldorf, Bill grew up in a close-knit family, carrying those values with him throughout his life. He was the dear brother of the late Nona (Robert Desmet). Bill honorably served in the United States Navy, spending two years on active duty and continuing his service in the Naval Reserve. His time in the military reflected the same dedication and strength he carried throughout his life. His greatest joy was his family. He was a loving grandfather to 14 grandchildren and a proud great-grandfather to 12 great-grandchildren. He is also remembered with love by his sisters-in-law Marion Bell, Frances Lukas, and Mary Grace Cosamano, along with many special nieces, nephews, and countless friends. Bill will be remembered as hardworking, outgoing, good-humored, and a great man. His laugh and stories will be treasured forever. He enjoyed traveling cross-country, reading Stephen King novels, vegetable gardening, playing cards, camping, bowling, golfing, relaxing by the swimming pool, playing softball, and attending any and all of his grandkids’ sporting events. Everyone who had the privilege of knowing Bill will miss him dearly and remember him for his big heart, steady presence, and the unforgettable mark he left on their lives. Visitation is Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at the Wasik Funeral Home, 35259 23 Mile Rd, New Baltimore, MI from 3:00-8:00 PM and Wednesday, April 16, 2025 from 10:00-11:00 AM with a memorial from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Burial to take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery on Thursday, April 17, 2025. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Bill’s memory.
