Virginia Eleanor Moyer

In loving memory of Virginia Eleanor Moyer, “Ginny”, who died peacefully on August 26th at 11:51am. She was born on October 11th, 1933, in Ridgetown, Ontario, the fourth child of Edward and Beulah Bressey. She had a lifetime filled with good memories of her sisters and brothers: Jeannie (Wendell) Snow, Ruthie (Pete) Britton and Bill (Sally) Bressey, and younger sister, Kathy (Arnold) Landsparger, and brother Jack (Rosemary) Collins. She remained in close contact with all her siblings throughout her life with family vacations and gatherings. Ginny completed her education by graduating from Agar Business College, Ridgetown, Ontario, in 1952. She subsequently found employment at Pontiac Motor Company in Pontiac, Michigan, where she met her future husband, John Lee Moyer. They were married in 1954. They eventually landed in Rochester, Michigan, where together they raised their four children: Kerr (Patty) Moyer, Todd (Coleen) Moyerbrailean, Jon (Maggie) Moyer, and Kristy (Tom) Doherty. Ginny was a softspoken, loving and caring mother. She taught her children kindness, compassion, and to enjoy life, be happy, and to laugh at things for they can always be worse than they are. Her advice to raising children was “just love them”, and this she taught to her children by example, and we all felt her love. She was a very special and incredible mother and grandmother. Later, in retirement, they moved “up north” to Torch Lake. Ginny loved the warm summer weather – especially sitting on their deck and watching the hummingbirds and the boats go by on Torch Lake. She also enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers, tennis and of course the Spartans, since all her children attended Michigan State University. Ginny also spent time as a volunteer in the gift shop at Munson Hospital in Traverse City. She loved being around her family, and this became a favorite place for childhood memories for her seven grandchildren: Samantha and Lindsay Moyer, Greg and Anne Moyerbrailean, Lauren (Gerard) Rizarri, Erica and Kelly Doherty, and one great-grandson, Alexander Nagler. She was preceded in death by her husband Lee, her parents, Edward and Beulah, stepfather Ted Collins, sister Jeannie, brother William, and sister Kathy. Private gathering to celebrate her life will be held. Ginny enjoyed a good Cabernet Sauvignon, so raise a glass and remember her blessed life with love in your thoughts and prayers. A grave side committal service will be held at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens in Novi, MI, on Tuesday, September 2nd, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate Virginia's life, honoring the love and joy she brought to all who knew her. Arrangements have been entrusted to Wasik Funeral Home-Shelby Township, who have provided compassionate care and support to Virginia's family during this difficult time. Virginia Eleanor Moyer will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of her family and friends. Her spirit will live on through the love she shared and the memories she created.
