Sandra Jean Morisette

Sandra J. Morisette, a cherished member of the New Baltimore community, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at the age of 81. Sandra was born to Victoria and Louis Zawadzki on October 2, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan. Sandra lived a loving life dedicated to her family. Sandra was the beloved wife to James Morisette, Sr., for 63 years. She was a devoted mother to her three children James (Janet) Morisette, Jr., Rodney (Dawn) Morisette and Victoria (Rick) Dych. Sandra was a proud grandmother to Rodney II (Victoria), Jenna, Zachery, Eric (Alicia), Jimmy III, Ross, and Jeffrey and great grandchildren Jordan, Rozlyn, and Rodney, III. Her kind spirit, gentle heart, and sense of humor enriched the lives of her family and friends, creating lasting memories filled with love and warmth. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her beloved sisters Barb and Roslyn, and her grandson Zachery. Despite these profound losses, Sandra remained devoted to her faith and provided comfort and compassion to her family. Professionally, Sandra, was instrumental in helping her dad manage a successful bar/restaurant, f/k/a Lou’s Lounge, (later becoming Shipping Channel). After her dad’s retirement, Sandy began her employment with the Anchor Bay School District and continued to work there for 30 years until her retirement. Sandra was a proud supporter of the Anchor Bay Athletic program and formed many friendships through the wrestling, football, lacrosse, and softball programs. She was infamously known and recognized as everybody’s “Grammy”. Sandra was an active member of St. Mary Queen of Creation Parish. Sandra participated in parish events, working at the parish festival, and crocheted baby blankets for babies baptized at St. Mary's. Sandra was also a charter member of Daughters of Macomb and was the Grand DOM in 2019. Sandra was truly the happiest when she had a baby in her arms and when she was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sandra cherished the friendships she formed throughout her years. Sandra will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched. May she rest in peace, reunited with those she loved and lost, and forever cherished in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Visitation will be from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m., with a 2:00 p.m. Rosary, Friday, March 7, 2025, at the Wasik Funeral Home – Gendernalik Chapel, 35259 23 Mile Road, New Baltimore. Instate 9:30 a.m. until a 10:00 a.m. Mass, Saturday, March 8, 2025 at St. Mary’s Queen of Creation Church, 50931 Maria, New Baltimore. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
