Rosemarie Tedesco

Rosemarie Tedesco, passed away peacefully, Thursday, May 25, 2023, at the age of 80. She was born January 22, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan to Victor and Mary (nee Plati) Servitto. Rosemarie was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Antonio "Tony" in 2022, her parents, and in-laws Giuseppe and Angela Tedesco. Loving and devoted Mother to Angela (Samuel) Kustra, Dana (Paul) Durocher, and Giuseppe ‘Joe’ Tedesco. Cherished “Nanny” to Steven (Dana) Kustra and their children, Samuel, Maria, Elena, Michael, Joseph, John and Thomas, and Grace (Curtis) Murphy and their children Charlotte, Evelyn, and Audrey. She is survived by her beloved sister Marian (Raymond, d.) Servitto, and predeceased by: Edward (Katherine, d.) Servitto, Jean (Donald O’Marra, d.; Roger) Ailshie, Raymond Servitto, Frank (Marie) Cefali, and Victor (Patricia, d.) Servitto, and remembered fondly by her in-laws, Isabella (Fioravante, d.) Zanchetta, Francesco (Chiara, d.) Tedesco, Rosa White, Tommaso (Cathy) Tedesco, and John (Teresa) Tedesco. She will be missed by many others including Jim Brown, and her many nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, and friends in both Canada and the United Sates. Throughout her life, Rosemarie was uniquely known to many. Often known by frequent pet names “Sister,” “Hun,” “Mom,” “Nanny,” “Rosie,” “Rosa,” “Rosemary,” “Mrs. T.,” all of which emulated different facets of her dynamic personality. Rosemarie’s life was about love, passionately caring for others, and always willing to lend an empathetic ear. Over the years, she made great friends who could count on her for sound advice, a good laugh, and a shoulder to cry on. She was born the youngest child of a blended family of seven siblings on Rohns St. in Detroit and was the apple of her father’s eye. Rosemarie was raised in a faith-filled Italian household where attention to God and family were the pillars by which the Servittos lived. And it was here that she learned that love and kindness are the most important things in life. Growing up, she received plenty of attention and had an easy time striking up a conversation with anyone she met. Being the youngest of a large family, instilled in her the importance of standing up for herself and others, which she did so well. She advocated for others and encouraged people to be strong and resilient. In her teens, Rosemarie moved with her family to East Detroit where she graduated from high school. She was introduced to the love of her life—Tony, through her extended family. They fell in love and were married on July 21, 1962. Rosemarie and Tony lived a loving and full life together. Rosemarie and Tony had three children that they cherished, Angela, Dana Marie, and Joe (Giuseppe). Rosemarie carried over the pillars she learned as a child and imparted them to them. Rosemarie loved her children very much and had unique relationships with each of them. Rosemarie was a homemaker and supported Tony and the children as they grew up. She supported Tony’s new career in the family restaurant and farming businesses and moved to Windsor, Ontario. When the family moved from to Canada, for a time Rosemarie baked pies and famous Bundt cakes for the restaurant and helped managed the farm. Starting early in the morning, she milked cows and tended to the other animals. Loving the animals, she even made a pet out of a bull-calf Cesar, who used to follow her around the farm like a puppy! She was a hit with school groups who visited the farm. At the age of 41, Rosemarie became a proud and loving grandmother “Nanny” to Steven and Grace Kustra. As a grandmother, Rosemarie would dedicate much of her time to helping raise her grandchildren. She was their full-time caregiver and would gladly fill the shoes of her daughter Angela when necessary. Rosemarie was a wonderful grandmother and taught her grandchildren what she learned as a child. Later in life, she became the great-grandmother to 10 great-grandchildren who she cherished and who cherished her. After 26 years in Canada, upon Tony’s retirement, they moved to Grayling, MI where they lived for 21 years enjoying their “Little Bit of Heaven,” their AuSable Riverfront property in the woods. There Tony and Rosemarie enjoyed the slower pace of life in the beautiful surroundings. Rosemarie and Tony would often entertain their family and friends around the fire pit. Of late, in 2021, Rosemarie and Tony, moved to Sterling Heights, MI to be closer to family. Rosemarie was an artist, an avid crafter and had a brilliantly creative mind. Rosemarie loved to paint ceramics, crochet, do paper tole, and the penny slots at the casino. Rosemarie also cherished time with family and friends and loved to reminisce. She was a great dancer and an avid animal lover. Rosemarie was known to be sassy, and could be a force to reckon with, but at her core, she was a kind, creative soul who touched the lives of everyone she met. Despite her significant ups and downs over the last year and a half, she made instant friends, and was happiest when sharing a laugh. Always a fervent and faithful Catholic, a faith she passed on to her generations, Rosemarie entered eternity peacefully, fortified with the sacraments of the Church, and kissing the image of Christ Crucified. May she rest in peace. Throughout this journey, Rosemarie has been blessed with the support, dedication, comfort, and care of many for which Rosemarie and her family are eternally grateful, including: Rev. Canon Adrian Sequeira, ICKSP, who in his charity, frequently visited Rosemarie and Tony, administering the sacraments, and providing spiritual comfort through their decline. Canon Sequeira was present during Rosemarie’s last agony and was a comfort to all. Dr. Stashefsky and his staff provided Rosemarie and Tony with patience, kindness and diligence over the past few years. Assured Hospice provided Rosemarie with great care, especially Chris, Nicole, and Michael. My Doctor’s Inn, especially Angela who supported Rosemarie’s independence, and the other attentive, friendly, and skilled staff. American House Sterling Meadows, especially the administration, kitchen crew and hardworking housekeeping staff. Balanced Care, who provided Rosemarie with support and attention during the last month of her life. Last but not least, Mary (Mare) Dedvukaj, who helped personally attend to Rosemarie in her last days. Visitation Friday June 2, 2022, 1-8 p.m. with a Rosary 7 p.m. at the Wasik Funeral Home, Inc., 11470 Thirteen Mile Road (west of Hoover) Warren, MI. In state, Saturday, June 3 at 11:00 a.m. until time of Requiem Mass at 11:30 am at St. Joseph Shrine, 1828 Jay Street, Detroit. Interment to immediately follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery, 5005 Howard Ave., Windsor, Ontario.
