In Loving Memory of Robert Louis Buchheister October 21, 1922 – June 26, 2025 Robert Louis Buchheister (Buck), a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and proud American, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025, at the age of 102. Born on October 21, 1922, Buck lived a life defined by service, dedication, and love for family. A proud veteran of World War II, he served honorably in the Army Air Corps and stayed a devoted member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars for over 80 years. He was a long-time parish member of the St. Mary’s Queen of Creation Catholic Church and of the Knights of Columbus, embodying the values of faith, charity, and community. On November 24th, 1949, he married the love of his life, Joan Folske and together they raised three children. He was proud of the home he built, brick by brick. Buck built the home that would become the heart of his life and legacy—a place filled with laughter, love, and the steady hum of his latest woodworking or carving project. His passion for working with his hands was matched only by his love for fishing and playing cards, often surrounded by family and friends. Buck dedicated 42 years of his professional life as a Chief Draftsman in Engineering at BorgWarner, where his skill, reliability, and integrity earned him the respect of colleagues and friends alike. He is survived by his three loving children: Robert (Fran) Buchheister, Susan (Donald) Van Tiem, Karen (Charles) Schneider; cherished grandchildren, Amy Buchheister (Paul), Brett Buchheister (Heidi), Ericka Schneider-Barnes, Ken Schneider (Autumn), Mike Schneider (Nicole), Lisa Minjoe (Mike), Gail Robb (Jim), Laura Ottenbacher (Craig) and fifteen adored great-grandchildren; Brandon, Kayla, Bella, Brooke, Jimmy, Mitchell, Jillian, Mary, Cassidy, Kacy, Myles, Marcie, Nathan, McKinley, and Lucas. Buck was predeceased by his beloved wife of over 60 years, Joan, his siblings, Bernard (Ione) Trepte, Dorothy (Walter) Campau, and his hero grandson, Jason Schneider, who gave his life in the line of duty. Buck’s life was a gift to all who knew him, and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched. Buck was a man of quiet strength, steadfast values, and profound devotion. He was a gifted storyteller, rich in detail and memory. His warmth and kindness made him a friend to all who met him. He is dearly loved and will be forever missed. A celebration of Buck’s life will be held with honor and gratitude for the remarkable legacy he leaves behind.
