Paul C. Sloan Jr.

Paul C. Sloan, Jr. passed away at home on August 9, 2016 after a courageous battle with Esophageal Cancer. Born to Dr. Paul C. Sloan, Sr. and Rita J. Sloan, Paul is one of six children and graduated from Grosse Pointe South High School in 1975. He was employed at Miba Hydramechanica and worked as a Quality/Production Manager. Paul was an avid Red Wing hockey and Tiger baseball fan. He also rooted for the Green and White (Michigan State University). Paul enjoyed reading, comedy, golf and spending time with family and friends. Anyone who has spent an evening with Paul knows that his abundance of one liners was endless! He was a fourth generation Russell Islander and extremely proud to share the love he had for the island with his wife, Jennifer and his girls, Larissa and Lainie. He loved to play Friday night bingo, wading on his sister Kathy’s beach and sitting on the dock watching the freighters pass. From a little child to the end of his life, his love of the island would never waiver. Paul will be remembered for his gentle heart, comedic personality and family dedication. Beloved husband of Jennifer. Loving father of Larissa Wood and Lainie Sloan. Dear brother of Mary Sue Sloan (John) Adams, Kathleen (Steve) Engelhart, Philip (Liz) Sloan, Amy (The late Bill) Wood, and Peter (Louise MacLean) Sloan. Dear uncle of Robert (Amy) Sloan, Jeffrey Sloan, Katherine Sloan, Erin Adams, Emily Engelhart, Augie Engelhart, Nicholas Grabowski and Terra Grabowski and great uncle of Webb Sloan. Son-in-law of Phyllis Grabowski. Brother-in-law of Edward (Mary) Grabowski. Visitation Thursday 1-9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Scripture Service at the Wasik Funeral Home, 49150 Schoenherr Road (N. of 22 Mile Rd.). Instate Friday 9:30 until 10:00 am Funeral Mass at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 54085 Schoenherr Rd. (N. of 24 Mile Road), Shelby Township. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
