Paul N. Schmidt

Paul N. Schmidt, of Shelby Township, passed away Monday, June 10, 2019 at the age of 80. He was born August 8, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan to Norbert and Joan (nee Karamon) Schmidt. Paul was a longtime resident of Shelby Township, Michigan and Venice Isles, Florida. He was in the first graduating class, in the current location, of Utica High School in 1956. He was also an almost life member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Utica. Following high school Paul served in the National Guard. He then pursued a career in computers and worked for NCR and retired after working for the company for 40 years. Paul had a unique passion for golf. He not only enjoyed playing golf he also enjoyed other aspects of the sport. He worked as a Ranger at Cherry Creek Golf Course and also maintained the golf carts in the cart barn. Paul was also a member of the Skiwi Ski Club. He not only was a good skier he was also good at teaching people how to ski. He not only had the patience but he also knew how to encourage people when they wanted to give up. The friendships he and his wife, Paula made in the Skiwis in their younger years have been maintained still today. On June 13, 1964 Paul Schmidt married Paula Bruszewski. On Thursday, June 13, 2019 they would have celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary. Paul was a caring man. He had an infectious laugh and a smile to brighten the room. He enjoyed making people not only smile but also to laugh. He was always there to lend a hand to a friend in need and also enjoyed telling stories of the good old days. He cherished the time he spent with his friends but enjoyed even more the time he was with his family. He was like by many, loved but so many more and will be missed by everyone's lives he has touched. Beloved husband of Paula. Loving dad of Jessica (George) Kingsley and Todd Schmidt. Dear brother of Elaine (Bert) Lozen and Naomi (Fred) Durr. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Visitation Wednesday 2-8 p.m. with a Scripture Service at the Wasik Funeral Home, Inc., 49150 Schoenherr Road (north of 22 Mile) Shelby Twp. Instate Thursday 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass 10:30 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 44633 Utica Road (south of M-59) Utica. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be addressed to the Capuchins.
