Patricia Leona Anthony

Patricia was a blessed woman who wore many hats during her lifetime. First, she was a daughter, She was born in Hamtramck, Michigan to Antoinette and James Peters , on September 7, 1963, a beautiful baby who was loved by all who were fortunate enough to know her as a child: grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, family friends, but most especially her parents. Next, she was a sister to two older siblings, James (Staci), Julia ( William), and one younger brother, Anthony (Lisa). She lived with her family in Detroit until the age of five, at which time she and her family moved to Mancelona, in the Northwest Lower Peninsula of Michigan. Her next role in life was that of a student in the Mancelona Schools from elementary to high school graduation. She excelled in academics, as well as sports. Patricia participated in several sports including volleyball, basketball, and running track. After graduating high school in Mancelona with honors, Patricia enrolled in Oakland University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources and Development. She held multiple positions in various jobs while at Oakland University, but primarily in service to other people. While she was a student at Oakland University she met the man who would later become her husband and the father of her three sons, Michael, Brandon, ,and Christian. Throughout her career as a Social Worker in both Wayne and Oakland County, she assisted scores of people in need. Patricia loved her often stressful job because she was a giving, caring woman. Balancing a career and being a mom to three boys proved to be a challenge that she met head on with many successes. Patricia’s favorite role in life was being a mother to her three “boys“, whom she loved dearly . She did so as a single parent for the last several years of her life, and went above and beyond the call of motherhood. She supported her children in ways beyond measure. She was their number one fan at swim meets, basketball games, football games, band concerts, and more. Basically, Michael, Brandon, and Christian were her LIFE! When Patricia found a bit of time to enjoy some “Me Time” she often could be seen with a crochet hook in one hand while guiding the yarn with other hand to create beautiful handcrafted items… anything from a dishcloth, to baby booties, to afghans. Christian especially remembers his mom crocheting stuffed animals for him as well as for many other family members. “Trisha” also had other favorite past-times. They included reading, journaling, playing cards, a “mild addiction” to Facebook games and chat, and of course, getting lost in the reels of her favorite slot machines. Further, she made the best upside down pecan apple pies ever, often requested by many members of her family. Family times were especially dear to “Tricia” when spent at a very private lake in Presque Isle County in Northeastern Michigan. At Lake Augusta, in Posen, surrounded immediately by property owned by family members for over 100 years, Patricia loved sitting in a fishing boat with her mom and dad waiting to feel the tug of a yellow perch or bullhead, or pike on her fishing line. Many, many times, Patricia expressed that this was her favorite place on earth! Now she will spend eternity viewing that awesome place from a different angle when she isn’t watching over her beloved sons. Patricia’s giving spirit and warm heart will ever be reflected in the memory of those who knew and loved her. Without a doubt, those who knew her best are sure to miss her the most.
