Nicholas Joseph DiMaggio

Nicholas Joseph DiMaggio, twin brother of Zachary DiMaggio, was born on June 16, 2000. Nicholas passed away on September 12, 2021, from Covid after a 21 year battle with Propionic Acidemia. Given a life expectancy of 3 years, this loss was expected, yet our family is absolutely devastated, unprepared, and heartbroken. Nicholas is survived by his devoted parents, Domenico and Tracy (Hager) DiMaggio; his caring older twin brothers Dennis DiMaggio and Russell DiMaggio; his loving grandparents, James and Karin (Koweck/Hager) Cantalupo; and his uncles, aunts, and cousins, Jasen and Jill (Alter) Hager, Blake, and Sabrina; Giuseppe DiMaggio, Rosolino, Rosa, and Matteo; and his great grandma, Josephine Catlin, and many great aunts and uncles, and cousins. Also, by his deceased relatives; grandpa Dennis Hager; grandparents Rosolino and Rosa DiMaggio; great grandparents Paul and Jean Koweck, and especially his best friend and twin brother Zachary DiMaggio. Nic was, without a doubt, the sweetest child this world could ever ask for. He was persistent when it came to helping people figure out what he was telling them. He was passionate about expressing his stories through art drawn by those who adored him. Nic had thousands of drawings created and kept a some on his wall beside his bed and on his ceiling. He loved his Santa and kisses on the cheek from Mrs. Claus, swimming, shopping, going to stores, the library, grandma’s house, Halloween, Christmas, taking walks to find the ice cream truck, painting and most recently coloring his own pictures. Nic lived life with pure joy and happiness, never letting his disabilities gets in the way. He had an extreme love for the people in his life, which includes his family, friends, and caregivers, and was always asking for them to feed his belly and watch his shows with him. He loved watching, Wee Sing, Barney, Sesame Street, Dora and Diego, Blue’s Clues, The Wiggles, Teletubbies, and Team umizoomi. Nic made a lasting impression on the lives of all who knew him. Visitation for Nicholas will be on Sunday, from 2-8:00 p.m. at the Wasik Funeral Home, Inc, 49150 Schoenherr Rd. (N. of 22 Mile Rd.) Shelby Twp. Funeral Service Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Twp.
