Michael D. Stabnick July 12, 1945 – Nov 6, 2025 Beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather Michael D. Stabnick passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, at the age of 80, in Chesterfield, Michigan surrounded by the love of his family. Michael is survived by his three sons, Michael (Amy), Steven (Carolyn), and Timothy (Carrie); and his five cherished grandchildren, Austin, Madison, Branden, Ethan, and Kennedy. He is also survived by his brother John (Carolynne), along with many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Vicky of 56 years, his parents, John and Elizabeth Stabnick, and his sisters, Elizabeth (Joan), Patricia, and Joyce. Born on July 12, 1945, in Detroit, Michigan, Michael grew up in the city and graduated from local schools. Soon after high school, he married the love of his life, Vicky, on February 18, 1967. Together, they built a beautiful life and family, living for many years in Sterling Heights before retiring to their home in Chesterfield. Michael had a lifelong love of sports. He played basketball in his youth and enjoyed golf throughout his life. As a father, he was a dedicated hockey coach and mentor to his three sons—so dedicated, in fact, that one of his players went on to play in the NHL and won a Stanley Cup. A passionate University of Michigan football fan, he loved tailgating and cheering on the Wolverines with family and friends for many years. Michael ended his professional career as an insurance salesman. After retiring, he and Vicky enjoyed countless gatherings with family and friends at their Chesterfield home—a place filled with laughter, love, and memories. Above all, Michael treasured his role as a grandfather. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he never missed a chance to share how proud he was of each one. Michael’s favorite pastimes included spending time with Vicky, golfing, playing cards, watching his favorite TV shows, cheering for University of Michigan football and Detroit Red Wings hockey and simply having family close. Family meant everything to him, and he always reminded everyone to stay connected and take care of one another. Known affectionately as “Sarge,” Michael was a man of integrity, strength, and wisdom. He was kind, compassionate, and had an unforgettable sense of humor. His warmth and generosity touched everyone who knew him. His quick wit and silly jokes will continue to bring smiles to those who loved him. Michael will be forever loved, forever missed, and forever in our hearts. Family and friends are welcome to attend a memorial visitation on Friday, November 14th from 1:30 – 8:00 p.m. with a celebration of life service at 4:00 p.m. which will be held at Wasik Funeral Home, 35259 23 Mile Road, New Baltimore, Michigan 48047.
