Mary Margaret Schrage

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Margaret Schrage, who departed this life on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the age of 88. Mary peacefully left this world at her residence in New Baltimore, Michigan, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 7, 1936, in Detroit, Michigan, to Charles B. and Velma M. (Nalley) Shinavar, Mary lived a life full of love and service. She was the beloved wife of the late Walter Schrage, with whom she shared 53 years of cherished marriage until his passing in 2009. Mary's legacy lives on through her devoted children: Laura (the late Lawrence) Conniff, Lisa (Robert) Hoskin, Ellen (James) Justice, Sandra (Ronald) Shankin, Carol (the late Norman) Schrage, and her late daughters, Lynne Marie (Paul) Jendrusina and Susan Marie Schrage. Her affectionate spirit also lives in her grandchildren: James (Marissa), Robert, Mary (Treston), James (Michelle), Jonathan (Amber), Michael (Samantha), Christopher, Amelia (Monica), Abigail, and Ryan, and her beloved great-great-grandchildren: Lawrence, Lili, Jackson, Aubree, Lucas, Gabriel, Caleb, Elyana, Payton, Liam, Jaclyn, and Spencer. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Velma, and siblings, Charles Gary (Ruth) Shinavar, Patricia (Jack) Fenison, and Joan (Charles) Taylor. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends who treasure her memory. Throughout her life, Mary was dedicated to her community in New Baltimore, honored as Citizen of the Year for her unwavering commitment. Her contributions were many, from volunteering and supporting the local library to her past role in the New Baltimore Historical Society, the City of New Baltimore Zoning Board and the Board for Review, Road commission, and New Baltimore Bay Rama. She also enjoyed a successful career as a real estate agent. Mary enjoyed gardening, golf, and reading. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 3, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm with an evening Rosary Service at Wasik Funeral Home - Gendernalik Chapel, 35259 23 Mile Rd., New Baltimore, MI. Mary will lie instate on Monday, August 4, 2025, from 10:30 am to 11:00 am followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 9764 Dixie Hwy., Ira Township, MI, at 11:00 am. Mary's life was a testament to love, family, and community. She will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, but her spirit will continue to inspire those who held her dear. Memorial donations in memory of Mary Margaret may be directed to New Baltimore's Historical Society, Immaculate Conception Church and the Humane Society.
