Katherine Helen Brown

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Katherine H. Brown, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, who departed from this world on August 31, 2024, surrounded by loved ones at her home. She was 95 years old. Katherine lived a life filled with love, laughter, and kindness, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Born in 1928 in Detroit, she was the second of five children born to Raymond and Monica (Endres) Nau. Katherine spent many joyful summers in Algonac, Michigan as a child and as an adult, creating cherished memories with her family and friends. She met her husband, Yewell Brown, at a wedding and married him in 1952. They were married for 55 years before he passed away in 2007 and they had three sons, six grandchildren, and a great-grandson. Throughout her life, Katherine exemplified integrity, generosity, and resilience. She wore many hats supporting her husband in their family store in Alden Park Towers Market, from catering to lending a sympathetic ear to some of the residents. She loved her work as a receptionist and was willing to take on any extra work at Simpson Industries/Metaldyne and later at Waltonen Engineering, where she made lasting contributions and forged many friendships. She was highly regarded by colleagues and peers for her expertise, professionalism, and unwavering work ethic. Katherine was preceded in death by her loving parents, Raymond and Monica Nau, her beloved husband, Yewell Brown, her son, Daryl Brown, her sisters, Monica Strickfaden and Margaret Purdie, and her brother, Raymond Nau. She is survived by her children, Joel (Beth) Brown and Lloyd (Krystin) Brown, daughter-in-law Jennifer Faunce, her grandchildren, Jason (Megan), Justin (Ashley), Connor, Dylan, Samantha, and Sophia, and her great-grandson, Hudson Brown. Katherine is also survived by her sister, Amy Temple, and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by all those whose lives she touched with her warmth, and compassion. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-8 pm with a 7 pm scripture service at the Wasik Funeral Home, Inc. 49150 Schoenherr Rd. (N. of 22 Mile Rd. in Shelby Twp.) Instate Thursday 9:30 am until 10 am Funeral Mass at St. Lawrence Catholic Church 44633 Utica Rd. Utica, Michigan 48317. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
