Joyce C. Lehman

Joyce C. Lehman, of Sterling Heights, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2025, at the age of 76. She was born January 20, 1949, in Hamtramck, Michigan, to the late Walter Joe and Angeline Roza Switkowski. Beloved wife of the late George. Dearest mother of Suzanne (Lee) Smalley. Proud grandma of Christopher and the late Matthew. Loving sister of the late David Switkowski and the late Daniel Switkowski. Dear friend of Donald and Janet Tulock. Preceded in death by her beloved K-9 companion, Patches. Also survived by many loved ones who fondly knew her as "Grandmamamamamamama". Joyce was a dedicated and active member of the Marist Laity - Society of Mary. She was a member of the Third Order of Mary out of Holy Innocents-St. Barnabas, taking the professed name Mary Katharine after St. Katharine Drexel. Joyce worked as a phone operator for Michigan Bell for many years before taking time off after the birth of her daughter, Suzanne. She would go on to work at Arbor Drugs/CVS Pharmacy as a pharmacy tech, before eventually working as a switchboard operator at Bi-County Hospital. In her free time, Joyce treasured her companionship with her beloved dog, Patches. She was also ever-present at all of her grandson Christopher's Boy Scout activities, including when he made Eagle Scout at age 14. She was proud of her grandson and all the accomplishments that he achieved; so much so that it became one of her favorite things to do - sharing with her neighbors and friends about how much pride she had in Christopher. The joy and happiness that her family brought her was immeasurable, and undoubtedly her passing brings sorrow to all of us who knew her. But when we remember the good times spent and the love shared with Joyce, it brings comfort to our hearts knowing her legacy will live on in each of us. Visitation Friday 2-8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Rosary at the Wasik Funeral Home, Inc., 11470 Thirteen Mile Road (West of Hoover) Warren. Instate Saturday 10:30 a.m. until an 11 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 4580 N. Adams Road (North of Wattles Road) Troy. Interment Sacred Heart Cemetery in Roseville, Michigan.
