Joseph Wiebelhaus

Joseph Wiebelhaus, 68, of Macomb, MI, passed away peacefully at his home on May 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Inkster, Michigan, he was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Wiebelhaus and Joanne (Jurczak) Wiebelhaus. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Paula (Dennis), and his cherished children: Jeffry, Joseph III (Jenny Fagerlund), Jennifer (Doug Kelley), Lynn (Nathan Krebs), and Jill. Joe was a proud "Opa" to his grandchildren: Nathan II, Joseph IV, Angelina, Alma, Madison, Moa, and Olivia. He is also survived by his siblings: Marty (Cindy), Claire (Sam Ferrise), Michael, and James. Additionally, he leaves behind his in-laws, Marilyn (and the late Frank) Dennis, Frank (Grace), Robert (Kim), James (Karen), Margaret (Chris Scott), and Richard (Anne), along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Joe deeply cherished time spent with his family, especially during vacations at the “Glennie Haus,” where he enjoyed countless evenings captaining the pontoon boat on North Lake. A true poly-hobbyist, Joe approached every new interest with discipline, precision, and the eye of a craftsman. Whether it was RC model boats, slot cars, metalworking, woodworking, automotive restoration, or perfecting his BBQ skills, Joe mastered them all with dedication and passion. Topping that list was his lifelong passion for Unlimited Hydroplane Racing. From the age of 5, whether on the Detroit River or participating in model boat races with his fellow members of the Oakland Wolverine Model Boat Club, Joe’s enthusiasm for hydroplanes was unmatched. A proud University of Michigan football fan, Joe’s wardrobe was predominantly "Maize and Blue," and he never missed an opportunity to dote on his lawn, tending to it with great care. Joe graduated from Cherry Hill High School in 1974 and went on to study Architectural Design at Lawrence Technological University. Visitation for Joe will be from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at the Wasik Funeral Home located at 35259-23 Mile Road in New Baltimore. Instate at 10:30 a.m. until an 11:00 a.m. Funeral Mass on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at St. Peter Catholic Church located at 95 Market Street in Mt. Clemens.
