Joseph Stephen Nimety

Joseph Nimety, 82, of Chesterfield, Michigan passed away on January 30, 2024 after being diagnosed with a sudden and unexpected brain tumor, which resulted in damage to a significant portion of his brain. Joseph was born on June 23, 1941 to Ann and Joseph Nimety in Detroit, Michigan. He attended Pershing High School in Detroit, Michigan. Joseph is preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Nimety and mother, Ann Scharmen and his father Joseph Nimety. He is survived by his 2 daughter’s, Julie Nimety and Jennifer Lacey, his sister Joann Bierkamp, and 3 grandchildren Ethan Haines, Lila Haines and Kaylee Bukowski. Joseph’s greatest accomplishment wasn’t his career of more then 30 years at TRW. It was being a father and a husband. When he met his wife Geraldine, it was love at first sight. That love grew to include 57 years of marriage. Joseph was a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Mary's Parish. He had a strong devotion to his faith and a deep love for God. Joseph not only influenced his family but also others who had the privilege of knowing him, instilling in them valuable principles, ethics, and resilience. He was cherished by numerous individuals who held him dear to their hearts. Additionally, Joseph had a special affection for animals, as they seemed to be naturally drawn to him. He had numerous opportunities to express his love and care for animals. He never let any animal go hungry, always ensuring they were well-fed and taken care of. He consistently made donations to the Humane Society and animal rescue groups, ensuring that all animals received the care and attention they deserved. Joseph was truly devoted to his family. He would consistently attend cheerleading competitions, volleyball games, and softball games, always being an active and engaged dad. Despite his demanding work schedule, he never failed to make time for his family, even participating in nursery school activities. There will be a viewing on February 5, 2024 at Wasik Funeral Home - Gendernalik Chapel, 35259 23 Mile Road, New Baltimore, MI 48047 at 2pm until 8pm. A funeral service on February 6, 2024 will be held at St. Mary Queen of Creation, 50931 Maria Street New Baltimore, MI 48047. He will be in state at 10am until a Funeral Mass at 10:30am.
