James David Kucyk

James Kucyk passed away on February 19, 2026 in Hancock, Michigan at the age of 53. James was born in Clinton Township on July 20, 1972 to David and Kathryn Kucyk. James was a 1990 graduate of Clintondale High School in Clinton Township, he carried with him the values of humor and loyalty that would define his life. James spent his career working in broadcasting and fulfilled a lifelong passion by graduating in 2019 from the Specs Howard School of Media Arts solidifying his career in broadcasting. Radio wasn’t just a career, it was his calling. As an on-air personality, his unmistakable voice and warm presence reached listeners across Florida, Georgia, Wyoming, and Michigan. His colleagues admired his professionalism and creativity, while listeners connected to his authenticity and quick wit. In 2019, he made his home in the UP of Michigan, where he quickly became part of the community he loved. No matter where life or radio took him, he built lasting friendships in every corner of the country. His network of friends stretched far and wide, a testament to his open spirit and generous heart. He quickly found work in the snowbelt as a news director the the local radio station. Known affectionately as a true “foodie,” he approached meals as adventures. He delighted in discovering hidden gems, savoring local specialties, and sharing recommendations with enthusiasm. For him, food was more than nourishment it was connection, culture, and joy. He will be remembered for his vibrant personality, his booming laugh, his love of great meals, and the countless lives he touched through the airwaves and in person. Though his voice may be silent, its echo remains in the hearts of those who knew him. He is the beloved son of the late David and Kathryn Kucyk. Loving brother of the late Jeffrey Michael Kucyk. Dear nephew of Douglas (Mercedes) Kucyk, Pam (Will) Oulette, and Laurie (Ed) Smith. Cherished cousin of Nick Kucyk and several other cousins. He will be dearly missed by his friends Tom Kowalski and Jason Cotton along with his friends in Hancock Paul Dettmers and 'Awesome Joe' Battisfote who looked after James in his last years. Instate Tuesday, February 24th 9:30 AM until 10 AM Funeral Mass at St. Isidore Catholic Church 18201 23 Mile Road (Corner of Romeo Plank), Macomb Township. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township.
