George Whittit Walker, III

George W. Walker III, age 73, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2023, surrounded by family. George is survived by Darcel, his loving wife of 51 years, his sons Brad (Diane) Walker, Bryan Walker, and daughter Stacey (Anthony) McDonald. Proud grandpa/papa of Cameron, Dylan, Aidan, Kalin, Jayden, and Devin. George is further survived by his brother Paul (Cindy) Walker and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends. George was born on May 12, 1949, in Detroit, MI to the late George and Elaine Walker Jr. George graduated from Eastern Michigan University and started his career at Ford Motor Company in 1972. He met several longtime friends during this time and retired from Ford Wixom Assembly Plant after 31 years of service. After retirement, George and Dar split their time between Caseville, MI and Jacksonville, AL. Enjoying school activities, games, and significant events of their six grandsons together was important. Spending family time on fun beach vacations or at the cottage was always a priority. George enjoyed playing his classic rock music loud. Good times were had at Friday night happy hours relaxing with friends and family. George loved reading books, was a believer in Jesus Christ often reading the Bible, in fact he wrote a book of his own, Role Players –The Unknown Fraternity in Major League Baseball, and a children’s book. George had no shortage of friends wherever he was at and never met a stranger. He had Caseville friends, Alabama friends, work friends, college buddies and friends all over the metro Detroit Area. Those who were close to him knew him to be a “classic” and one of a kind. He could spark up a conversation with anyone and they instantly took a liking to him. George was warm and affectionate; he would often give the best bear hugs. He was loved by many especially his family and will be dearly missed.
