Eleanor Theresa Osowski

Eleanor Theresa Osowski was born on October 30, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan to Walter and Mary Ann Magreta and passed away peacefully in her home on August 15, 2023 at the age of 95 surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of the late Steve and dear mother to Cindy Copeland and Don (Barbara) Osowski. She was lovingly known as Little Gram, Grams, and Gram Cracka to Lisa (Greg) Alkhas, Stephen (Gabrielle) Osowski, Kristen Copeland, Amy (Kevin) Johnston and Michael Osowski, and most recently the proud GG to great-granddaughters Lola and Sloane. She is preceded in death by all nine of her siblings; Edward, Edwin, Al, George, Virginia, Adeline, Dorothy, Walter and Norbert. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Eleanor lived ninety five fulfilling years, and while these last few years may have slowed her down physically, she remained witty and feisty and occasionally had a one liner that left her family laughing with tears in their eyes. She loved to have company over and always offered up her coffee cake, cookies, or whatever sweet treats she had stocked in her pantry or on the kitchen counter. Each morning you could find her at the kitchen table with a cup of coffee and a slice of coffee cake after opening her blinds. In the afternoon, it was time for word find puzzles and a short nap, and by the evening she was ready for Wheel of Fortune and a few Lays potato chips. She rarely missed a Saturday morning trip to the “beauty shop” to get her hair done. Although she stopped driving at 90 years young, she made sure Cindy, Don, or Barb were still always available to drive her each week. Even this last Saturday, she made sure she was up and ready for Cindy to pick her up. Her smile was contagious, and came out through her eyes when her family was around. She loved having them in her home, and always wanted (needed) to know what anyone was looking for or messing up in the kitchen while she sat at the table or living room as she grew older. More than anything, she missed her husband Steve dearly and never passed up an opportunity to share a story about him or tell her grandkids “If your grandpa was here…” He was the love of her life and although we are heartbroken she is no longer here with us, we find comfort and peace knowing they are both finally reunited. Visitation will be on Sunday, August 20, 2023 from 2 PM until 8 PM with a 4 pm Rosary at the Wasik Funeral Home 49150 Schoenherr Rd. (n. of 22 Mile Rd), Shelby Twp. Instate Monday 9:00 AM until a 9:30 AM Funeral Mass at St. Michael Catholic Church 40501 Hayes Rd., Sterling Heights. Rosary 4:00 Sunday . In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions can be made to: American Diabetes Association, Capuchin Soup Kitchen or American Heart Association.
