Eileen C. Irish

Eileen Charlotte Pincket was born September 7th, 1930, in Grosse Pointe and was an only child. She had a most wonderful life. She was a wee bit spoiled, but a proper upbringing made her the most loving caring person you would ever meet. As you will see she had a very full 94 years of life. Her father and grandfather owned a golf course in the 10 mile and I-94 area. As a child, she would ride her favorite horses at the neighboring stable while her dad was at work. Little did she know she would own horses and be involved in the horse show world with her daughter, Suzanne, much later in life. Because of the seasonal nature of the business her father was in, the family spent time during the winters in Florida where she did her schoolwork and assignments. Once in high school she attended Denby High where she was a cheerleader. Somewhere along the line she developed a sharp wit, a clever sense of humor, and unforgettable sarcasm. It was here, she met Dean Irish, the handsome quarterback. Dean and Eileen married in 1948. For 58 wonderful years they celebrated an adventurous lifestyle. Together, they raised three wonderful children, Lynn (Richard) Marsh, Jill (Michael) Hutchins, and late Suzanne Irish Black, Bryan Black . Who, in turn, blessed them with three cherished grandchildren: Kelly (Jeremy) , Amy (Joe), and Joshua (Emily). Kelly and Amy then welcomed four beloved great grandchildren: Ethan Warner Elliot Warner, Aidan Pardo and Dean Pardo. Eileen's family was her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Most important to her was family and creating lasting memories and traditions that would endure through the generations. Eileen was proficient at English and typing when she graduated from high school. She worked as a secretary at Chrysler and later at Edison. She raised her children, then as she had more time, worked in retail clothing at several dress shops. She had the opportunity to travel to Chicago to see the latest fashions on buying trips. Her father and husband Dean opened Fairway Golf Club in New Baltimore. She and Dean owned and managed the golf course for several years. She was never fond of golf but made a lot of friends. She loved all the people and had a multitude of crazy stories to tell. This job led her to another surprising chapter in her life. The horses. While managing the golf course she met several horse people as there was a stable down the road. Her daughter Suzanne was young and loved horses, so this was an opportunity for her to learn how to ride. Eileen’s daughter became an excellent rider and began competing. Eileen started traveling with her daughter hauling horse trailers and even a time or two got on a horse herself. She was always in the barns helping with the horses and girls getting ready to show. She treasured the excitement in watching the riders and horses. It was even better when her daughter took a ribbon!!! Eileen learned a lot about horses. She and Dean even had a couple race horses. What an interesting time that was!!! Eileen loved horses too. She never got to the Kentucky Derby but never missed it on TV. Eileen was introduced to boating at a young age as her father loved boating. He taught her all about fishing. She once told about eating perch sushi when they got hungry. Yuck!!! She and Dean were boaters also. They entertained on the boat as well as at home. There was always something going on it seemed. Eileen worked with wayward girls at Williams House in Detroit as a volunteer. While working there they had the opportunity to take about ten of the girls out on their boat. The girls had never had the chance to be on a boat or the water before. Eileen said it was a great experience for all of them. Eileen loved traveling as well. She never made it to a favorite destination, Egypt, but went to many other interesting places. She saw Paris, traveled to Belgium where they visited her father’s relatives. She also went to Hawaii, Alaska, Australia and several countries in the Caribbean. She also traveled the continental United States, from the New England states to Florida. She also went to Yellowstone, Nevada, California, plus many other memorable places. She had time somehow for hobbies too. Eileen was an avid reader. She always had at least two books going at once. Her love for books was infectious, and she believed that literature could transport one to different worlds and perspectives. We teased her about basket weaving but she did that too. She had a talent for basket weaving and made gifts for many people. She loved to sew and made a lot of her own clothes as well as her girl’s clothing. When they were old enough, she also taught them how to sew. She was introduced later to puzzles and that was a feat she relished conquering in her later life just to keep her mind sharp. Eileen and her daughter, Jill, dabbled in the antique business for several years. They went on buying adventures, then sold the antiques in a few different locations. After Dean retired, we’re not sure it was a hobby or just a reason to get out of the house and back to work, but she got a job working at Hallmark. She loved the people and working there and made some life-long friends. She threatened to quit for about five years, then finally quit working and retired when she was 90. Along with her family, Eileen’s passion for her dogs were most important to her. Her dogs were three English Setters growing up as a child. She had several dogs in her life after she was married, another English Setter, a Dalmatian, a big Doberman mix, two Brittney’s, and her last dog that she absolutely adored, was an English setter again. She also had a couple cats in the mix. We will remember Eileen as a woman who was smart, had class, charm, and grace. She always said she wanted to age gracefully, and she absolutely did! Memorial Visitation for Eileen will be from 10:00 a.m. until an 11:30 a.m. Memorial Service on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at the Wasik Funeral Home located at 35259-23 Mile Road in New Baltimore.
