Edward Trojniak

Edward J. Trojniak passed away peacefully at his residence in Commerce Township, Michigan in the early morning hours of May 8, 2018. Ed was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 10, 1932 to Jacob and Anna Trojniak. When his nation called, and was in its greatest need, Ed proudly answered and served in the United States Air Force. He spent 4 years in service of his country during the Korean War attaing the rank of Staff Sergeant. While in the Air Force Ed was honored with the National Defense Service Medal, the Occupancy of Germany Medal and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal. Upon leaving the service Ed and his wife settled in the Sterling Heights area and Ed made his way in the produce industry. Many local Utica people would recognize Ed from the time that he spent at Baisley's Market on Van Dyke. Ed was the manager of the produce department but never spent much time in the 'back room'. He could frequently be found stocking the local produce up front and/or (often times both at the same time) talking to the local shoppers about which of the 5 types of plums they carried would be best for them or which apples made the best apple pies. When he retired from the grocery buisness Ed couldn't sit still. He volunteered his time at his Church (St. Therese of Lisieux) helping out where they needed him. When his wife's health took a turn Ed devoted his time to helping her until she passed away in March of last year. Ed is the beloved husband of 61 years of the late Barbara. Loving father of Rosanne (Steve) Burrows, Mark (Karen) Trojniak, Monica Trojniak, Brian (Lynette) Trojniak, Duane (Kim) Trojniak, and Linda (Jeff) Ruprich. Proud grandfather of Keith, Joshua, Sarah, Benjamin (Hilary), Justin, Andrew, Brent (Sarah), Michelle, Christopher, Nicholas, Kevin, Joseph, Ahsley, Nicole, Peter, Amanda, and Meilssa. Also very proud great-grandfather of Miriam. Visitation Sunday 2-8 PM with a 7:00 PM Rosary at the Wasik Funeral Home, Inc. 49150 Schoenherr Rd. (n. of 22 Mile Rd.), Shelby Twp. Instate Monday 9:30 until 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church 48115 Schoenherr Rd. (n. of 21 Mile Rd.), Shelby Twp. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township, Michigan. Memorial Contributions may be directed to the St. Vincent De Paul Society.
