Daryl Y. Brown

Daryl Y. Brown, born December 10, 1968 and passed away on December 21, 2018 in Detroit, Michigan at the age of 50. Loving husband of Jennifer Faunce and devoted father of Dylan and Samantha. Dear son of Katherine and the late Yewell Brown. Dear brother of Joel (Beth) Brown, Lloyd (Krystin) Brown and dear brother in law of Matthew Faunce, Suzanne Faunce (Ben Liston) and Geoffrey Faunce. Dear son-in-law of Sherman and Dorothy Faunce. Dear uncle of Jason, Justin, Connor and Sophia. Daryl lived much of his life in service to others. He served the city of Sterling Heights as a police officer for 26 years. He worked as a Patrol Officer, a Narcotics Officer and spent many years as a Sergeant in the Traffic Safety Bureau. He served the Catholic Church through the International Order of Alhambra. Daryl was active in supporting the Hemophilia Foundation of Michigan. He was active in the Gaelic League Irish American Club of Detroit. Daryl loved spending time outdoors pursuing activities with his family. He proposed to his wife during a ski trip and relished his time at the family cottage. He loved hunting with his son Up North and coaching his daughter’s Cross Country teams at both St. Anne Catholic School and at Regina High School. Daryl looked forward to his annual fishing trip in Alaska with relatives. He was an avid runner who competed in 6 marathons. Daryl loved cheering for the MSU Spartans. He held the title of Tailgate Host Extraordinaire. He enjoyed volunteering to cook for a local restaurant and was always looking for new recipes. Daryl loved getting a good deal for any transaction. His brothers joked that he was an honorary member of Costco, Sam’s or any other discount or coupon club. Daryl was loved by so many people and will be missed. He was truly a best friend to everyone. Visitation for Daryl will be at the Wasik Funeral Home, Inc., 49150 Schoenherr Rd. (n. of 22 Mile Rd.) Shelby Twp. on Wednesday from 4-9 pm and Thursday from 1-8 pm with a Police Pass and Review at 6 pm and an Honor Guard post from 7-8 pm. His Funeral Service will be Friday with visitation starting at 10 am until 11 am Funeral Mass at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 44633 Utica Rd. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
