Carol Elizabeth Eckert

Ira Township, MI—Carol Elizabeth Eckert, age 85, peacefully passed away in her residence on Saturday, July 19, 2025, following a month-long illness. Born on January 15, 1940, in Mount Clemens, Michigan, she was the cherished daughter of the late Vincent J. Probst and Ann E. (Ringel) Probst. Carol was the beloved wife of the late Klaus "Nick" Eckert, with whom she shared 44 years of joy and partnership until his passing in 2006. She was a devoted and loving mother to her children, Eileen Eckert, Kimberly (Joseph) Martinez, and Vincent Eckert, all of whom cherish her memory. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Cristina, Gabriella, Maia (Austin), Anthony (Kayla), Nico, and Michael, as well as her great-grandchildren: Kyler, Kayleb, Hayden, Kortanna, Axel, and Aurora. Carol was a dear sister to Marilyn (the late Hugh) O’Donnell, and she was preceded in death by her brother, Don Probst. Carol was a former secretary at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception School and later worked at Meijer. Known for her kindness and compassion, she had a talent for card games such as canasta and Hand, Foot, and Toe, and was an accomplished crocheter. She touched many lives with her handmade Afghans and generously donated lap robes to nursing homes alongside many other causes. An ardent card sender, Carol ensured that birthdays, holidays, and even Groundhog's Day were celebrated with a message from her. Her acts of kindness and thoughtfulness left a lasting impact on all who knew her. She was truly "one of the kindest souls" and will be dearly missed by family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. Visitation will be held at Wasik Funeral Home - Gendernalik Chapel in New Baltimore, MI, on Friday, July 25, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Carol will lie instate at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ira Township, MI, on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. Immediately after the mass, a graveside committal service will take place at St. Mary Cemetery in New Baltimore. Carol's life was a testament to love and generosity, and her work on earth is now complete. May she rest peacefully in heaven, forever reunited with her beloved husband and family.
