Bonnie Oleszkowicz

Bonnie Sue (Chaulklin) Oleszkowicz, daughter of Lawrence and Hazel (nee Simmons) Chaulklin, the beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend passed away peacefully on March 29, 2025 surrounded by family. She was 80 years old. Bonnie is survived by her loving husband of almost 46 years, Stanley; her children, Kelly (Karl) Heid, Kimberly Varga, Kevin Varga, Pam (Matt) Walch and Bud (Peggy) Oleszkowicz; her grandchildren, Katy, Kyle, Keri, Patrick, Matthew, and Mark; and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Sally Boyd and Patti Emmendorfer, and beloved granddaughter, Kristen. Born in San Francisco, California, Bonnie grew up in Flint, Michigan, where she attended St. Michael's School. She was one of four sisters. Bonnie had a close-knit family and often recalled the many memories shared with the Chaulklin and Barron families, including family vacations and activities that brought them together. Bonnie’s career was one of service. She worked with ALS patients in private care before becoming a clinic coordinator at the Henry Ford Harry J. Hoenselaar ALS clinic in Detroit. Bonnie had a passion for helping others, and her dedication to her work left a lasting impact on everyone she served. She also loved working with children, assisting with Religious Education at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, where she touched many lives with her warmth and care. Those who knew Bonnie will always remember her sparkling eyes and contagious smile. An avid cook, Bonnie loved canning and baking, often spending hours in the kitchen preparing meals and sweets for her family and others. She was well known for bringing the family together on special days making Christmas cookies, pierogi, and kielbasa. Her warmth and generosity were evident in the way she cared for those around her. A celebration of Bonnie’s life will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2025 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. scripture service at Wasik Funeral Home (49150 Schoenherr Rd., Shelby Twp., MI 48315). Instate Monday from 10:30 a.m. until an 11:00 a.m. funeral mass at St. Therese of Lisieux located at 48115 Schoenherr Rd., Shelby Twp., 48315. Inurnment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery.
