Bernard E Dave

Bernard E. Dave, of Fraser, passed away Friday, July 3, 2026, at the age of 76. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 19, 1949, to the late Bernard F. and Ellen Dave. Beloved husband of Suzann for over 55 years. Dearest father of Sam Dave, Bernie (Teri) Dave, and Steve Dave. Loving grandfather of Bernie, Samantha, Charlotte, Destinee, Dezarae, and Brett. Adoring great grandfather of Beckett and Georgia. Dear brother-in-law of Ann (the late Joe) Yaklic, Sam (the late Marianne) Lumetta, and the late Joann Adragna. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, his Best Friend Sam (Virginia) Saglimbene, and cherished Fur-Babies Duce and Vader. Bernard is preceded in death by his brothers Bill and Al. A deeply patriotic man, Bernard bravely and honorably served his country as a member of the United States Army in the Vietnam War. His commitment to his fellow servicemen didn't end after being honorably discharged from the Army, as he continued to stay active in various veteran groups, especially the V.F.W. Post 6691 in Fraser. He wore his love for his country on is sleeve, and his home was decorated for over a month in anticipation of America's 250th Birthday this year. Bernard also had a passion for being near water. He was an avid fisherman who loved nothing more than taking his boat out on Lake St. Clair for a quiet day on the waves. But his greatest adventures were shared with the love of his life, Suzann. Together, they shared a common love of going on cruises, having taken over 40 together in their lifetime! Bernard had a fondness for taking cruises to the Caribbean and other warm weather destinations. Back on land though, Bernard took immense pride in his home and yard. He was famously meticulous about his lawn and flowers, spending hours ensuring everything looked immaculate, a testament to his keen eye for detail. Bernard was a familiar, friendly face in the community, having worked at Farmer Jack for over 40 years and then brought his warmth and work ethic to Wal-Mart for another 8 years! But above all, family was his greatest treasure. He cherished every vacation, every family gathering, and every single moment spent with his grandchildren. He was truly a loved man by all who had the privilege to know him and will be greatly missed. Visitation Monday 2-8 p.m. with a 6 p.m. prayer service at the Wasik Funeral Home, Inc., 11470 Thirteen Mile Road (West of Hoover) Warren. Instate Tuesday 9:30 a.m. until a 10:30 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Thecla Catholic Church, 20740 S Nunneley Road (South of Metro Parkway, East of Groesbeck) Clinton Township. Bernard will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery, in Holly, Michigan, at a later date.
