Barbara Lee Oesinghaus

Barbara Lee Oesinghaus of Shelby Township, Michigan, passed away on November 25, 2022, at the age of 75. She was born on November 17, 1947, in Detroit to the late Clark and Marie Dunning. Loving wife of Klaus for 56 years. Cherished mother of Kerri (Randy) Wright. Dear grandmother of Kevin and Kristie. Loving sister of Sandra (Gary) Bathurst, Linda (the late Michael and the late Jerry) Brantley - (Mark) Karasinski, Kathi (Eddie) Stafford, Karen (Dan) Pacholek, the late Shirley (John) Via, and the late Thomas (Maryann) Dunning. Adored and survived by many nieces and nephews. How do you sum up someone’s life in one page? Words can’t begin to describe the love and happiness they brought to your life every single day. Barb was the epitome of those words and so much more. She was always putting everyone else’s needs above her own – a natural caregiver. Growing up, she made sure that our house was a home. She was always running around cleaning, making brown bread, zucchini bread and strawberry jam. Any time we had family or friends visit, they were offered something to drink and eat, and everyone was made to feel like family. Her two grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she was constantly spoiling them every chance she could. She enjoyed making dinners for our small family every Friday for the last 25 years. Any meal she made was cooked with love - you could taste the difference, even in the everyday lunchmeat sandwich. Barb was also an avid baker. She loved to bake cookies, cakes, pies, and muffins. Every week, there was a new “sweet” in the kitchen to sample. During Christmas, friends and family would look forward to her famous whiskey cookies. Everyone knows it takes a special kind of person to enjoy working with the public, and Barb loved interacting with people. She enjoyed talking to anyone, about anything and everything. Even if we were at the grocery store, she would somehow always strike up a conversation with a stranger. We would ask after if she knew that person and she would always say ‘no’. Any time Barb was around, there was never a want for conversation. She had a quick wit and a great sense of humor. No matter what room she was in, it was always filled with laughter and happiness. Barb was a loving wife, mom, grandma, sister, aunt and friend to everyone. She was someone reliable, who was always willing to listen, offer advice, laugh or cry with. She loved her family and friends fiercely and the world will not be the same without her. If you had the privilege to know her, you loved her. You fought long and hard to stay with us. We love you. Until we meet again. Memorial visitation Saturday, December 3, from 1-4 PM with a memorial service at 4 PM at the Wasik Funeral Home, 49150 Schoenherr Rd. (Shelby Twp).
