Barbara Ann Kesek

Barbara Ann Kesek, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 9th, 2024, at the age of 77. Residing in Richmond, Michigan, Barbara was born on a crisp winter day, Thursday, December 5th, 1946. Her life was a testament to strength, love, and resilience. Barbara shared a beautiful journey of 56 years with her devoted husband, James, who was not only her partner but her safe haven throughout life's challenges. Their enduring bond was a testament to true companionship. A devoted mother, Barbara leaves behind her children, Michael Kesek, Amanda Kesek, Sara (Gregory Jr.) Brys, and Kaitlyn (Derek) Brys. She cherished her role as a grandmother and took immense joy in her grandchildren, Bennett, Maxton, Gregory III, Parker, and Hayes. Her family was her pride and joy, and her love for them knew no bounds. Barbara is also survived by her sister, Diane Muhsam. She was preceded in death by her parents August and Irene DeSmet, who instilled in her the values of kindness, resilience, and love. These values were evident in every aspect of her life. A woman of diverse interests, Barbara had a deep love for her dog Bailey, whose company she cherished. She was an avid traveler with a special fondness for Key West, loved shopping, and enjoyed the occasional trip to the casino. Her creative spirit shone through in her crafting and quilting projects, and her culinary skills delighted those around her. Barbara found solace and joy in the great outdoors, particularly her trips 'up north', where she often found peace and inspiration. Her battle with lung cancer was fought with extraordinary courage; she was a true warrior who never complained but faced each day with grace and strength. Her family and friends will forever remember her warm smile and generous spirit. She was happiest in the presence of her loved ones, especially when surrounded by her grandchildren. Their laughter and love were among her greatest joys. Barbara will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who were fortunate to know her. Her legacy of love, resilience, and joy will continue to inspire those she leaves behind. May she rest in peace.
