Michelle Lynn Drumb

Michelle Lynn (Lemmer) Drumb, 49, was called home by Our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. She was born December 12, 1974, in Detroit at St. John’s Hospital to parents, Harold and Joyce (Pipoly) Lemmer. Her name was chosen by her beloved father, HG, after the 1965 Beatles classic, “Michelle, My Belle,” which he loved to play for her as he sang along. Song, melody, harmony and music were part of her DNA from birth. Michelle graduated from Lutheran High School North in 1993, then attended Western Michigan University, where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. She accepted a position in the East China School District after landing the job by showing her singing skills to "Green Eggs and Ham" by Dr. Seuss during her interview. She started her career as an Itinerant teacher, then taught first grade and third grade at her beloved Belle River Elementary. She recently proudly received a grant from East China to incorporate drumming into her classes. She worked for 25 years as a committed, loyal educator and was ready to retire later this year. On August 9, 2009, Michelle married the love of her life and soulmate, Martin J Drumb, after connecting on the popular dating website, Match.com. She was drawn to Marty’s profile name "BowSeaRay21," which began their shared passion and love for boating, being on the water, and one another. With Marty, Michelle achieved the life she dreamed of, beginning with the birth of their beautiful daughters, Grace Joy (13) and Lillie Michelle (11). Not to be forgotten is their grumpy ShihTzu, Gus, who is more Marty’s fluff companion than hers. Together, Marty and Michelle created a loving home and strong bond with each other and their girls, stretching their love to include all members of their extended family. Michelle was proud of her "Marty Man" and her girls. She loved their personalities, spirit, and resilience, and was an avid fan in the stands cheering them on in basketball. Throughout her life, Michelle brought laughter and song to others, along with happiness, celebration, a sense of belonging, and unconditional love. She could shift the energy in a room with the expression on her face, a funny voice, or a song! Filled with so many gifts and talents, she was truly a vibrant gift from God. To know her and love her made you the receiver of goodness. An accomplished, successful vocalist, Michelle brought her musical voice to the world in many ways. Song was a conduit of prayer for her, and her voice brought people together, celebrating a wedding or party, and even to say “goodbye.” Her students loved to hear her sing, and songs would echo from her classroom. Michelle had a bigger-than-life personality and shared stories that captivated and held you, making you better after listening. She loved teaching, her teaching peeps, and every student she taught. She loved her job even more when she, once again, became an Itinerant teacher teaching gym and music. She touched so many with her love. On October 12, 2020, during a global pandemic, when the whole world lost their minds and was in chaos, and after suffering the loss of her beloved “step-dad,” David Hughes, Michelle made the decision to choose sobriety. She became transformed. Life shifted and moved into a way that amplified, illuminated, and enhanced her. She was very proud of her sobriety, earning numerous AA sobriety coins. She was open and honest, sharing her challenges, struggles, and incredible successes. The serenity prayer became her song and guiding force. And in that way, she sang louder, a most beautiful song. With her dramatic attributes, humor, and vocal ability, Michelle became involved in theater. She took part in stage plays, school and church choirs, and cabarets. She was the youngest cantor at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, beginning at 14, and continued cantoring and singing in the choir. She had the gift of doing “voice-overs” and could change her voice and intonation in an instant. She found pleasure and humor in giving any dog or animal the most perfect and appropriate voice in the right accent. Michelle loved to read, especially aloud to children, and found calmness in adult coloring books. She loved the water, boating, and zooming across the Bay in her tritoon. She loved chip dip, iced tea, chewing ice, over-sized, bedazzled sunglasses, and large hoodies. She loved the Grinch, who served as her forever inner critic. Her Snoopy collection is grandiose, as well as her vast collection of gnomes, elves, snowmen, santas, miniature nativity scenes and, of course, her shoes. Most of all, she deeply loved her family, teaching, and singing. Michelle is survived by her husband and daughters, mother, Joyce (Pipoly) Lemmer, younger sister Nicole (Kevin) Yoder and niece Molly, in-laws David (Ellen) Drumb, nieces Jacklyn and Erica, Connie (Drumb) Huffman, nephew Andrew, Danny (Rachel) Drumb, nephew DJ, and Susan Drumb, nephew Jonathon, great nephew Logan. Many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive her, as well as her many treasured and faithful friends. She now joins her deceased father, HG, (Harold G Lemmer), in heaven, watching Hulk Hogan wrestling, old episodes of the Sopranos, the Simpsons, or some other slapstick comedy. She will also be deep in conversation with beloved, David B Hughes, fiancee of Joyce Lemmer. She loved both men dearly. Michelle is preceded in death by grandparents, Harold and Coletta Lemmer, Joseph and Ethel Pipoly, aunt, Susie Lekich, cousin, Linda Albright, and beloved Shih Tzu, Bubba Lou. Funeral Service for Michelle will take place on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, located at 49655 Jefferson Avenue, New Baltimore 48047.
