Joseph A. Provenzano

Joseph A. Provenzano, Beloved husband of the late Rina Provenzano, made the final journey home peacefully on the evening of July 22nd. Joe was born in Grand Rapids Michigan to Nunzio and Maria Antonia and grew up with Jimmy and Mary. Right out of high school Joe joined the U.S. Army and proudly defended his country. While overseas’ s he met the love of his life in a quaint ice cream parlor in Parma, Italy. His love for Rina prompted him to reenlist to marry her and bring her to the United States. Together they made a home on Detroit’s eastside and were parishioners of St. Philip Neri. Joe worked very hard in the newspaper industry at the Detroit Times and then the Detroit Free Press. He always worked multiple jobs to provide for Rina and their four children who he is survived by: Nunzio “Nick” (Virginia), Joseph (Patricia), Patricia (late Barney) Mulrenin and Elena (Joe) Wiegand. From those children came twelve grandchildren, Jeffery, Lisa, Melissa, Patty Ann, Joseph, Sara, Christopher, Kristina, Tim, Nicole, Jenny and Larry. From these grandchildren came 26 great grandchildren: Abby, Seraphina, Zoey, Cameron, Nicholas, Hannah, Gary, William, Ryan, Samantha, Madeline, Eugene, Joseph, Kevin, Anthony, Christopher, Nicolas, Alexandra, Louis, Stella, Rina, Emma, Emilia, John, Joey and Kian. From these great grandchildren came 2 great great grandchildren Eloise and Charlotte. Joe supported anyone that needed it, he was a dedicated family man and contributed to his community in many ways. He always had room in his home for anyone and was dedicated to the neighborhood birds on Cottage Lane. His unconditional love was repaid by the devotion of his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren from the eldest Nunzio “Nick” 76 years old to 2 month old baby Charlotte. His was a life of Faith, Hope and Love. Visitation will be Friday 5-8 p.m. at the Wasik Funeral Home, Inc., 11470 Thirteen Mile Road (west of Hoover) Warren. Instate Saturday 9:30 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass 10 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 22412 Over Lake (corner of Mack Ave.) St. Clair Shores. Entombment Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions In Memory of Joseph may be addressed to The Capuchins.
